Following that idea, today’s recipe will show you how to make a delicious dish using common leftovers found in our homes. In this article, we’ll explore how to make the original fried rice and achieve the best results.

Fried rice is a beloved and simple meal enjoyed by people all over the world. It originated in Asia as a clever way to utilize leftover rice instead of throwing it away. Ingredients

  1. 3 cups cooked rice (preferably chilled or day-old rice)
  2. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  3. 1 cup diced vegetables of your choice (carrots, peas, bell peppers etc.)
  4. 1 diced onion
  5. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  6. 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  7. 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  8. Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  2. Add the diced onions and minced garlic to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until they become slightly softened.
  3. Push the onions and garlic to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the empty space. Allow them to cook for a minute or two then scramble them gently using a spatula. Once cooked, mix the scrambled eggs with the onions and garlic.
  4. Add the diced vegetables to the pan and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp. You can adjust the cooking time depending on your preference for the texture of the vegetables.
  5. Add the chilled or day-old rice to the pan. Stir-fry the rice with the vegetables for a few minutes, ensuring that the rice is well-coated with the oil and mixed evenly with the other ingredients.
  6. Drizzle the soy sauce over the rice and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce is well incorporated and the rice is heated through.
  7. Taste the fried rice and season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Adjust the amount of soy sauce if needed.
  8. Remove the fried rice from the heat and garnish as desired.
  9. Serve the fried rice hot as a main dish or as a side dish with your favourite protein and enjoy.
