How many times have we heard of the old expression,”it’s a man’s job”. Usually we have specific jobs that have been traditional male jobs and traditional female jobs. However, with the rise in unemployment and also with the rise of promotions, men have dominated in female occupations and ladies have dominated in male occupations. Isn’t that interesting to note?

Female butchers are an uncommon sight in butcheries anywhere in the world, however,Heather Marold is a female butcher who owns Primal Supply Meats. We also have Sarah Kelly and Katie McLoughin who were recently featured in an Irish Times feature on women butchers. Hannah Miller Childs from the USA is also another woman who has established herself as a charcuterie in Auckland making bresaola, coppa and other delicacies.

Interesting news is that there is a World Butchers Challenge and lady butchers are allowed to participate. Is that not amazing?? Honestly I don’t know about African Lady butchers but you could comment down below or tag someone.

Meat cutting has always been a man’s trade and yes, men are doing well in that area of expertise. It is quite something to see ladies walking into male-dominated industry. But physical strength aside, how do women compare in this industry?? Could ladies be better than the men in many ways?? Ladies are known to have a peculiar touch, attention to details, giving advice. I believe this applies even in their working places and honestly gives a different approach than men.

Firefighting has historically been a predominantly male territory since time in memorial but women have made inroads both in professional and volunteer fire departments. Many millennials have probably watched the American Drama Series, Chicago Fire, where we have female characters such as Monica Raymund and Kara Killmer have participated in the saving of lives on a regular basis. Some countries have lowered physical requirements for female recruits to be accommodated and that has worked. Yes, there may be challenges but looking at matters at heart, there is a greater score if we all worked together, right??

We also have Christen Snowden and Emma Lasco have been named as Pig Farmers of tomorrow, this was an award given to them in 2018. Where in the world have you ever heard of female pig farmers?? It actually sounds crazier the first time you hear it.

You see as a girl, as a lady, you can flourish in whatever you want to do. I am not suggesting that you become a pig farmer, haha, but if it interests you, well go ahead and do it.

Life has rules, they say, but they also say that  rules are meant to be broken.Maybe this is a call for you to just go against protocol and do what you love, what you desire, whether it’s meant for the guys or not, you can decide and become what you want to be.
